LANGUAGE
The official language of the Congress is English.

CLIMATE
The weather in Washington, D.C. in July is moderate, mostly sunny during the day, with the possibility of clouds and rain. A light jacket for the evening is suggested as temperatures may cool down. Clothing is informal for all occasions.

VISA
Many participants may require a visa to enter the USA. We therefore suggest that you contact the American Embassy/Consulate in your country or ask your travel agent for assistance.

INSURANCE
The Congress Secretariat and Organizers cannot accept liability for personal accidents or loss of or damage to private property of participants, students and accompanying persons, either during or indirectly arising from the 8th World Congress on Heart Failure - Mechanisms and Management. Participants should make their own arrangements with respect to health and travel insurance.

Fees for PARTICIPANTS include: participation in all scientific sessions, Congress kit, program, abstract book, printed material of the Congress and invitation to Get-Together Reception.

Fees for ACCOMPANYING PERSONS include: Invitation to the Get-Together Reception and two half-day tours.

PAYMENT
Payment for registration fees may be made directly via our website: www:Cardiology Online.com, by credit card, i.e., Visa, MasterCard, or American Express, by cheque payable to the 8th World Congress on Heart Failure, or by bank transfer* to the 8th World Congress on Heart Failure.

* Please make sure that the name of the Congress and participant(s) is stated on the transfer.

CANCELLATION POLICY
Fees will be refunded with a 25% deduction, if written cancellation is received before
May 15, 2002. After this date, no refund can be made.

ABSTRACTS
Participants interested in presenting oral communications and/or poster presentations are invited to submit their abstract(s) directly via the congress website: www.Cardiology Online.com (preferred method) or on the enclosed Abstract Form (together with a diskette) for consideration by the Scientific Committee.

All abstracts will be reviewed by at least seven members of the Scientific Committee. An abstract may be accepted for oral presentation, as a poster, or may be rejected.

Abstracts will be approved on their scientific merit and should be clearly presented and should be based on previously unpublished data.

The abstracts of the Congress will be published in THE JOURNAL OF HEART FAILURE, the official journal of the International Academy of Cardiology.

Please do not submit multiple copies of the same abstract.
If submitting an amended abstract, please indicate that it is a replacement abstract.

PROCESSING OF ABSTRACTS
You will receive confirmation that your abstract has been received, indicating the abstract number which it has been allocated. Please refer to this number in all correspondence regarding the abstract.
The Scientific Committee will assess all submitted abstracts, and information regarding acceptance and scheduling will then be sent to authors.
Authors whose abstracts are accepted agree to give the International Academy of Cardiology permission to publish his/her abstract/s, without compensation, in the Journal of Heart Failure and on its website www.CardiologyOnline.com.
Authors will be expected to pay Registration fees no later than June 1, 2002 in order to attend the Congress and present their study.
